The mod also underwent some major changes over the last few updates, some of which haven't been fully documented on the homepage. It has a ton of QoL changes, extra areas and mobs, more character specific base items, a ton of new unique and set items, more runewords, almost every vanilla set and unique item got reworked, runewords can be made in magic/rare/set/unique/crafted items, pet system, skill changes and more.
My all time favourite mod for old D2 is Reign of Shadow. You might have to downgrade your base game to an older patch like 1.13c to get D2SE running though. Also gives you easy acces to PlugY and allows you to try out older versions like 1.09. If you're interested in playing modded offline, I'd highly recommend the D2SE Mod Manager, it easily allows you to install a large amount of different mods via plugins.
